Wenn die Welt von Menschen mit Down Syndrom regiert werden würde, Life with Twins and Down Syndrome,Down Syndrom, Down-Syndrom Blogs, Down-Syndrome, englisch, Extrachromosom, Trisomie 21, If the World was Ruled by people with Down SyndromeSchon so einige Leute haben sich Gedanken zu diesem Thema gemacht. Aus zweierlei Gründen hier die Version von Ildi (Großbritannien).
Zum einen, weil sie mir besonders gut gefällt und zum anderen, weil sie sie gerade in ihrem Blog Life withTwins and Down Syndrome veröffentlicht hat:

If the World was Ruled by people with Down Syndrome

HUGGING WOULD MAKE A COMEBACK
Okay I know that any sign of affection is deemed to be in your face and invading your space but just dream a little.....

Being of European descent it is quite common for us to hug and kiss, family members, elderly friends of the family, babies sometimes complete strangers because it was always thought rude not to! This however is not the norm in the UK, but not one to be deterred I continued to hug both of my mothers- in - law whether they like it or not. Along with all my friends, close acquaintances, someone who I thought needed one. Wouldn't it be great if we could all feel free enough to hug someone just because we want to.

WE WOULD ALL HAVE AN HONESTY IMPLANT

If you ask someone with Down syndrome what they think they will generally give you an honest answer. Sometimes it may not be what you want to hear, mind, but at least it is straight from the heart. One of the things that used to upset people is that SJ did not necessarily like everyone, so if she did not say "Good Morning" they were offended. Another thing that annoys people is that she finds it difficult to look directly at you. Hours have been lost because that has been the subject of a lesson. Not everyone is that good to look at?

Just imagine, MP expenses would not be in dispute, Tony Blair (wash my mouth out with soap and water) would not be the war criminal that many say he is, banks would certainly not have eaten up our money? Prisons would be virtually empty. CSA would not exist. Millions would be off benefits. Utopia.....

MUSIC AND DANCE WOULD BE OBLIGATORY
There would be discos and dances every night of the week. Anyone could just pop in and have a quick boogie on down whenever they wanted. No charge, no need for drink, no need to close, just 24/7 PARTY!!!! No one would mind if you danced on your own. No one would bother if you danced with someone. You could just let you hair down when you liked. Oh! and you wouldn't be collected by minibuses to whisk you home Cinderella like before the clock struck 9pm!

THERE WOULD BE NO HURRYING
One of the hardest things that I have had to learn is to be patient. I have had to learn to be patient because if I had not I would most certainly be on medication. What I have learned is to add time on to each event that we will be doing so that I can allow SJ to get herself ready without any rushing around. Imagine if that were applied to everyday. Buses, trains, everything would run on time, everyone would have a calendar and keep to it, you would work between the hours you had been asked to work, you would rest when you needed to rest, you would have holidays, when you said you were going to be on holiday. How much pressure would be released! World wide!

WE WOULD ONLY BE INTERESTED IN WHAT WE WERE DOING TODAY

We would live in the here and now, not always watching for what was coming around the corner. Making the most of what we were doing at the time. We would live life slowly......as if there was all the time in the world.....that nothing was more important than what we were doing right then. We would actually see what and who was around us, because we had the time, and see if there was anyone or anything we could do to help someone else.

WAR, MURDER, RAPE? NO LONGER SHOWN ON TELEVISION INSTEAD......

These would be a thing of the past. Imagine. Worldwide. It would be replaced with constant coverage of Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor, old movies, repeat showings of Mamma Mia and all other musicals daily. PS2's and XBoxes would be given out free of charge to sing your heart out with Singstar and Air Guitar games until you dropped.

MORE TIME FOR LOOKING GOOD
It is a little known fact but people with DS generally have lovely long nails and amazing eyebrows. We would focus on working these to our advantage. Dressing up in our best clothes would no longer exist. We would wear our best clothes everyday, if the mood took us. Ball gowns to the shops, short skirts even if we didn't have the legs for it, body consciousness would not exist, because we know we look good.

There is much to be learned from people with DS, much that we still have to learn. How will we do this if there are no more people with DS around to teach us.
